It's all about getting there first

If we can reach and teach our seniors before the scammers come calling, then the call won’t become a scam.

As seniors are bombarded every day with scams through text messages, phone calls, and online, their best defense is education and vigilance. But that’s not so easy when they’re often hard to reach.

We’ve created a collection of tools, mostly simple checklists, that will make it much easier for seniors and the elderly to not only understand what to look for when confronted with a scam, but to remember the advice when it matters most.

For example, by posting our one-page checklists around the home – on a refrigerator, by the telephone, next to their computer and so on – we stand a much better chance of tipping them off, of getting there first, before they fall for the next scam.

That will be supplemented by short videos explaining the why and the how of scams, how to better build awareness, and how to minimize their exposure in the first place.

And most importantly, delivered to them in person by their local and trained real estate agents. People who are probably already their neighbor.

It’s a simple but well proven security concept. It’s not just about getting the right advice to consumers but finding ways to remind them to remember the advice at exactly the moment it matters.

And as a bonus, by reaching out to our seniors we’ll also be engaging and educating their kids and grandkids. So the entire community wins.
